High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to the Federal Republic of Nigeria

H.E. Mr. Thomas Boniface Amolo is the High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to the Federal Republic of Nigeria since February 2013. He is also accredited to cover Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Benin, Liberia and the Togolese Republic.
Amb. Amolo has brought an extensive and varied wealth of experience and leadership to the Kenya High Commission in Abuja that is well grounded in thirty years of Service in the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Nairobi in 1983. He further earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations from the same Institution in 1986. He received a Diploma in International Economic and Diplomacy from the German Foreign Service Institute in Berlin in 1987. In 1999, he further earned a Diploma in Preventive Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution in the United Nations from Columbia University in New York.

Amb. Amolo, who is a career diplomat, joined the Public Service of the Government of Kenya in 1983 as an Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya. He subsequently worked as Second Secretary at the Kenya Mission to the United Nations in New York (from 1986-1987, and from January 1997-2000), As a Counsellor and Deputy Ambassador at the Kenya Embassy in Washington, D.C. (2000-2004) and as High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of South Africa (2007-2013).
He also rose up the ranks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters rising to the position of Political and Diplomatic Secretary.
